About
Experience
John Paul is a seasoned performing musician. Having played well over 1,000 shows in his lifetime, he has performed in many different groups and has toured in several different states throughout the Southeast. He is a songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, performer, and music instructor. John Paul has spent his life in the pursuit of musical knowledge and training, and has gained expertise in the areas of music theory, music production, songwriting, improvisation, and performance. His many years of experience in these areas, paired with the vastly diverse amount of music he enjoys and has listened to over the years, has given him a unique style and perspective in his own writing and producing.


Teaching
John Paul’s career as a music instructor spans over 10 years and has taught well over a hundred students. He currently teaches: Advanced classes in music theory, music production, improvisation, songwriting, guitar, and bass. Intermediate classes in drums, ukulele, and voice. Beginner classes in piano, mandolin, and cello. John Paul currently teaches at Pippin Music Academy in Carrollton, GA and at Musicology in Newnan, GA.
Education
John Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Management from the Georgia State University School of Music where his primary instrument of study was Jazz Guitar. He recently graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Music Studies from Berklee College of Music with an emphasis on Songwriting and Music Production. John Paul plans to start his own sync licensing business Pocket Vibe Studios, LLC which will consist of custom songwriting for advertising, TV/ film, and established recording artists.

Career Highlights

Songwriter / Producer/ Mixing & Mastering Engineer/ Lead Guitarist / Lead Vocalist for Pocket Fire. Pocket Fire has performed hundreds of shows locally and has released multiple singles currently available on all streaming platforms!

Lead Guitarist / Co-Songwriter for Atlanta-based band Ugly Smile. Ugly Smile released an album of 10 songs entitled “Year 1” available on all streaming platforms, along with six music videos released on YouTube.

Performed on Season 21 of American Idol.

Performed in the orchestra pit on guitar for musical theater productions of: Evil Dead, Gospel at Colonus, Heathers, School of Rock, Toxic Avenger, and Freaky Friday.

Performed with the Carrollton Jazz Orchestra.

Private music instructor for over 150+ students in the last 10 years at Pippin Music Academy in Carrollton and for the last 3 years at Musicology in Newnan.
